ABOUT OUR LOGO

The "Rolling Rook" logo is a design concept combining a rook, (similar to a raven or crow), with a high wheel bicycle, commonly known as the Penny Farthing. The result is a beautiful design that symbolizes both our smart, inquisitive, hardworking playfulness and our passion for environmental issues.

MEGAN

Raised by Kittens

Megan (aka "The Rolling Rook") wants to live in a world where hard work is valued, animals are treated nicely, humans are less stressed, less greedy, and the their impact on our planet is taken more seriously. As an illustrator, graphic designer and fine artist, she's won several awards, been showcased on Behance and sold her paintings at various galleries and jazz clubs throughout US. When she's not hard at work in the studio, you can find her out riding her bicycle, shopping at the local farmers market, working at a local bike shop, or volunteering for various area organizations. She has designed a multitude of branding materials for a diverse variety of businesses internationally, nationally and locally, as well as illustrated for several books and various publications.

THE CATS

2018 was a horrible year for pets in our family. Megan’s mother lost her cat, our art director lost his dog and Megan lost her most beloved cat, Buddy. After a few months of being pet-free, Megan could no longer stand the lack of furry friends and decided to adopt two rescue cats from a local, private, cat shelter. Our silver tiger of a grey tabby, is named Ash (kinda after Bruce Campbell’s character in the Evil Dead movies), and our tortoiseshell kitty is named Ember (because…well, she looks like a burning ember). Ember spends most of her time in the studio while Ash prefers to sleep on the bed or watch chipmunks in our kitchen window. We’re so happy we could provide these sweeties a new forever studio… ahem…I mean, home.

BUDDY
2001(?)-2018

Adopted from an animal shelter, Buddy was very sweet, older and mellow.  Some days he spent sleeping on the back of a big comfy chair, but most days, he preferred being on Megan's lap.

On August 22, 2018, our beloved cat Buddy was peacefully put to sleep and later laid to rest at home. We will always be in our heart.
